According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the British actor Julian Sands, known for his work in shows like “24” and movies like “A Room with a View” and “Arachnophobia,” has been identified as a hiker who has been missing in the Mt. Baldy, California area since last Friday. Sands is known for his roles in movies and television shows such as “A Room with a View” and “Arachnophobia.”
According to Gloria Huerta, a representative for the agency, who talked with Digihind, the missing person report for Sands was filed at 7:30 p.m. on January 13. In an effort to obtain a comment, Digihind has reached out to officials of Sands.
The mountain known as Mount Baldy can be found in the San Gabriel Mountains in the county of San Bernardino. Huerta said that search and rescue workers were on the mountain looking for Sands; but, because of the terrible weather and the possibility of an avalanche, rescuers were forced to cease their search efforts.
The authorities are continuing their search for Sands by using drones, but because of the weather on Mt. Baldy, they have a limited amount of additional resources. Huerta added.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has recently issued a warning to hikers to discourage them from going to Mt. Baldy, where hazardous conditions continue to be caused by high winds and ice.
Within the past month, according to a post that the organization made on Facebook, search and rescue teams have responded to a total of 14 separate calls for assistance on Mount Baldy and in the surrounding area.
“These search and rescue operations were for hikers who were either lost, stranded, or injured. According to the article, “Unfortunately, throughout these last four weeks, two hikers did not survive after falling and injuring themselves,” Even hikers who believe they have a high level of experience may find that the recent storms, which produced snow and ice conditions, are not suitable for them.
Other works that Sands has contributed to include movies such as “The Killing Fields” and “Leaving Las Vegas,” as well as television shows such as “Smallville.”
One of his most recent roles was as a recurring character in the television series “What/If,” which is available on Netflix.
