According to a senior officer with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the first group of pilgrims on the Amarnath Yatra has begun their journey to Pahalgam and Baltal amid heavy security.
The yatra, which started on July 1 and will end on August 31, is a major pilgrimage for Hindus who visit the Amarnath Cave, which is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva. The yatra began on July 1 and will end on August 31.
It all began on the time-honored routes that pilgrims use through Nunwan in Pahalgam and Baltal in the Ganderbal district of Kashmir. Both of these locations are in the valley of Kashmir.
