Bharat Vandana Park nears completion: March 31 set as final deadline

Bharat Vandana Park nears completion: March 31 set as final deadline

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has announced March 31 as the new deadline for completing the ambitious Bharat Vandana Park project in Dwarka’s Sector 20. Spanning 200 acres, the park aims to showcase India’s cultural diversity through recreational zones and architectural highlights.

According to DDA officials, significant progress has been made. The civil and electrical work for the four gate plazas, a virtual game building, a restaurant, kiosks, and 20 toilet blocks is complete. The construction of pylons and the skywalk is 85% finished, with pathways, roads, horticulture, and landscaping expected to conclude soon.

The park, executed by the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC), features ten zones designed in the shape of lotus petals. Waterbodies, including two restored features, cover 25% of the area.

Among the highlights are nine 44-metre-tall pylons connected to a 1.2-km-long skywalk at a height of 18 metres, offering an aerial view of the park. Officials believe this unique structure will draw significant visitor interest.

The project includes diverse recreational facilities: a large congregation zone for gatherings, cultural areas, Pushpkriti Vatika, an eco-zone, meditation spaces, a Fun Park with animatronics, kids’ play areas, an open gym, adventure trails like zip-lining, and a lake-view restaurant.

A Mini India section, showcasing 36 scaled monuments, stalls featuring regional cuisines, and souvenir shops, is also under development.

Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has been personally monitoring the progress through frequent site inspections and review meetings.

Other key attractions include a paddle boat waterbody, a Wall of India, deck restaurants, and multiple food and beverage outlets. To maintain the waterbodies, DDA will supply 90,000 cubic metres of treated water initially, followed by a daily supply of 1,000 cubic metres.

Additionally, six rainwater storage tanks, each with a capacity of 5,000 cubic metres, will ensure sufficient water availability for the central Vandana Sarovar, a floating island, and the Mini India zone.

The park will also feature two open-air theatres, 500 KW solar panels for sustainable energy, lighting systems, and a 1.2-km boating track. Officials are confident that Bharat Vandana Park, with its combination of natural beauty, cultural exhibits, and modern amenities, will become a major attraction for both locals and tourists.
