In a major relief for farmers and rural residents, the Bihar government has announced a comprehensive compensation scheme for losses caused by wild animal attacks. The initiative aims to reduce financial stress on affected families and ensure timely assistance.
Under this scheme, compensation will be provided for loss of life, crop damage, livestock loss, and property damage.
₹50,000 Per Hectare for Crop Damage
As per the new provisions introduced by the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, crop damage has now been included in the compensation policy.
Farmers can receive up to ₹50,000 per hectare for crop loss
For example, if 0.5 hectare crop is destroyed, the farmer will get ₹25,000
Earlier, there was no compensation for crop damage, which caused significant losses to farmers. This move is expected to bring much-needed relief.

- Submit an application to the agriculture officer
- Attach land-related documents
- After verification, compensation will be transferred directly to the landowner’s bank account
