CM Arvind Kejriwal Suspends DCW Official for Raping, Impregnating Minor Girl

On Monday (August 21), Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal suspended the government employee accused of rape. Premoday Khakha, a government employee in Delhi’s Woman and Child Development Department, is charged with raping and impregnating the minor daughter of a friend who recently passed away.

According to accounts, the accused’s wife also assisted in the abortion by providing the girl with medicines to end the pregnancy. The attack occurred in the years 2020 and 2021.

The Chief Minister of Delhi has requested an update on the situation from the Chief Secretary no later than Monday, August 21, at 5 p.m.

Arrest of a Government Official in Delhi

Police in Delhi said they have arrested a government employee on charges of rape against his late friend’s underage daughter.

An FIR was filed against the officer on August 13 at the Burari Police station, alleging violations of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO).

BJP Leader Swati Maliwal and the AAP Government Come Under Fire

The BJP made accusations of inaction on the part of the AAP government and DCW Chief Swati Maliwal. A spokesperson for the national BJP, Shehzad Poonawalla, expressed outrage that such crimes were being committed “right under the nose of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.”

“Instead of commenting on matters of other states, they (Arvind Kejriwal and Swati Maliwal) should focus on Delhi,” Poonawalla remarked in a video he posted to X (previously Twitter).

Investigation notes from the police

According to the physicians, the girl is not able to testify. DCP of the North District Sagar Singh Kalsi said, “Action will be taken after recording the girl’s statement.”
