Ghaziabad Achieves Milestone in RRTS Project, Three More Stations Nearing Completion. Ghaziabad, a significant city in the RRTS project connecting Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut, is making remarkable progress.
As part of the 82km long Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project, Ghaziabad will be the first city to complete the civil construction work for all its eight stations.
Excitingly, the three remaining stations are expected to be finished within the next 3-4 months, as announced by the NCR Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the project executing agency.
17km Priority Section Commence Operations Soon:
The project comprises a total of 25 stations, including three in Delhi and eight in Ghaziabad, along with others in Meerut. Five stations in Ghaziabad have already been completed, forming part of the 17km priority section.
This section will commence passenger operations in the upcoming weeks, marking a significant step forward in improving transportation in the region.

Steady Progress in Ghaziabad and Delhi Stations:
Puneet Vats, chief public relations officer of NCRTC, stated that work on the remaining three stations in Ghaziabad, namely Muradnagar, Modinagar (North), and Modinagar (South), is in advanced stages.

RapidX Trains and Passenger Benefits:
The RRTS project plans to utilize state-of-the-art RapidX trains to connect Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut. Meerut will also operate a local metro transit module as part of the larger project.
Test runs for the RapidX trains have already begun on the 17km priority section in Ghaziabad, and approval for the operation of RapidX services has been received, leading the way for passenger operations to begin soon.

Once the entire section’s work progresses further, the first phase of operations will commence, running from Duhai in Ghaziabad to Meerut (South). This will prove advantageous for commuters using the heavily congested Delhi-Meerut Road.
Subsequent phases will extend operations to Delhi and eventually introduce the Meerut metro module.
The ambitious RRTS project, estimated at ₹30,274 crores, is projected to cater to approximately 800,000 passengers daily upon full operation.
The scheduled commencement of operations is set for March 2025, with the priority section in Ghaziabad expected to be operational by June 30.
