A senior officer of the Jammu and Kashmir government, his wife and son were killed and his daughter was injured in a road mishap on the Mughal road in Poonch district on July 9, 2023.
Car Plunges Into Gorge Near Pannar Bridge
Ranbir Singh Bali, Director of Finance, Forest, Ecology and Environment Department, his wife Parvinder Kour, and son Irvan Singh were traveling in a Swift car (JK02BD -4635) from Kashmir Valley to Surankote via Mughal road when the accident happened around 7:40 pm.
The vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a gorge near Pannar Bridge. Three of them died on the spot while their daughter Mahreen Kour was injured and rescued by the locals and police.
The Director General of Police J&K, Shri Dilbag Singh has condoled and expressed grief over the sad and untimely demise of Shri Ranbir Singh Bali, Director of Finance, Forest, Ecology and Environment Department, his wife and son who died in a tragic road accident yesterday.

She was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment and her condition is stated to be out of danger. The bodies of the deceased were retrieved and sent for postmortem. The police have registered a case and started an investigation into the cause of the accident.

Mughal Road: A Risky Route
The Mughal road is an 84-km long alternate road link between Kashmir Valley and Jammu region. It passes through the Pir Panjal mountain range and connects the Shopian district in Kashmir with the Poonch district in Jammu.
The road is often considered risky due to its steep curves, narrow lanes, landslides, and snowfall. Several accidents have occurred on this road, claiming many lives.
The authorities have been asked to take necessary steps to ensure the safety of travelers on this road and provide adequate medical facilities in case of emergencies.
