In a distressing turn of events, a horrifying incident involving the rape of a 12-year-old girl has recently come to light in the vicinity of the Mahakal police station in Ujjain. The victim is reported to be a resident of Uttar Pradesh, and she was discovered in an unconscious state in the Mullapur area. This harrowing situation came to the attention of the authorities when concerned citizens promptly alerted the police via the emergency hotline, dialing 100.

DCW Chief Swati Maliwal has also responded to the situation, using X to publicly criticize the administration.

Meanwhile, prominent Congress politician and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath also shared his thoughts on the matter on X. “It is heart-wrenching to see a case of extremely cruel abuse of a small girl in Ujjain,” the Congress leader remarked in a tweet.

A recent study found that Madhya Pradesh was the most dangerous state in the country for female students. Kamal Nath said in another post that the safety of girls is simply a topic of talk for this administration.

Confirmation by Mahakal Police Station

The Mahakal police station has confirmed the incident and provided some crucial details. The young victim, believed to be around 12 years old, hails from Uttar Pradesh. Unfortunately, at present, there is no information available about her parents, and she herself is unable to provide any account of how she ended up in this dire situation.

Acting swiftly upon receiving the distress call, the Mahakal police station dispatched her to a nearby hospital. There, at Charak Hospital, she received immediate medical attention and underwent a thorough examination, which tragically confirmed the occurrence of rape.

Due to the severity of her condition, she has been referred to Indore for more extensive medical treatment. A woman gazetted officer from Ujjain has been assigned to accompany her to Indore, and the direction of further investigation will be contingent on the statement given by the girl.

Legal Action and Investigation

SP Sachin Sharma, shedding light on the case, has confirmed that the young girl has indeed been subjected to wrongdoing, as substantiated by the medical report. In response to this horrific incident, a case has been promptly registered at the Mahakal police station against an unidentified perpetrator.

The charges include various sections of the law, encompassing rape and the POCSO Act. A search operation has been initiated to locate and apprehend the individual responsible.

To determine whether she arrived here unaccompanied or was separated from her family, a female police officer has been assigned to communicate with the girl and gather relevant information.

In addition to the Mahakal police station, SP Sharma has mobilized resources from the Neelganga police station and the cyber and crime investigation team to collect vital information. Throughout the night, these dedicated teams have been meticulously reviewing surveillance footage from both police station areas and conducting interviews with potential witnesses and suspects.

This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for continued efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals in our society.
