Father of Dehradun crash survivor urges public to stop rumours, await investigation findings.

Dehradun Car Accident

The father of Siddhesh, the sole survivor of the tragic Dehradun car accident, has made a public appeal urging the media and the public to avoid spreading unverified rumours about the incident.

Vipin Agarwal, speaking to India Today TV, called for empathy and compassion for the families of the six young victims who lost their lives in the crash. Siddhesh remains in critical condition, on a ventilator in the ICU.

Vipin Agarwal emphasized the importance of waiting for the facts, stating, “The investigation is underway, and the truth will emerge. Please refrain from believing or spreading half-truths and baseless speculation.” He urged the public to consider the immense grief of the bereaved families and not to add to their distress with unfounded theories.

The accident, which claimed six lives and left one survivor, has sparked numerous conspiracy theories on social media. Among these is a claim that the group had been drinking and partying before the crash. A circulating video allegedly shows a group of people partying, but police have not confirmed whether the individuals in the footage are the victims. Furthermore, no medical or autopsy reports have yet established that alcohol was involved.

Another theory suggests the Toyota Innova the group was traveling in had been involved in a street race with a BMW. This claim alleges that the driver of the Innova accelerated recklessly after being overtaken by the BMW, supposedly to regain their sense of pride.

However, this speculation has been debunked by police after reviewing CCTV footage of the vehicle’s route. According to the footage, the Innova only reached high speeds shortly before the accident, with no evidence of a race.

A further rumour claims the victims were leaning out of the windows or the sunroof of the speeding car, leading to two passengers being decapitated. However, there is no confirmation of this claim. Investigators believe the severe head injuries sustained were likely due to the high-impact collision with a container truck.

Vipin Agarwal’s plea highlights the emotional toll such speculation has on grieving families. He reiterated that the ongoing investigation would provide clarity, and until then, he urged restraint and sensitivity from both the media and the public.
