We won’t let go of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, and it looks like Disney feels the same way because the show will now have a fourth season on Disney+. This comes after the Frozen-themed finale of the third season.
Even better, Disney made this announcement before the start of season three, which shows how much they believe in our favorite Wildcats. Ayo Davis, head of branded television for Disney, says that “this series continues to bring the best in class drama, comedy, and emotion.”
One reviewer said, “We can’t wait to see what’s next for the Wildcats.” “Creator and executive producer Tim Federle’s vision and interpretation of this legacy IP keep growing from season to season,” said another. From the beginning, this series has been an epic journey, and I’m so happy that we get to keep making music, telling stories, and introducing amazing people.
This was also said in a statement by the showrunner, Tim Federle (via The Hollywood Reporter). Join us at Digital Spy as we put on our game faces and tell you everything you can expect from the fourth season of High School Musical, because we’re thankful, too.
High School Musical 4: Release Date
If all goes as planned, season four should start airing in the summer of 2023. In an interview, series star Sofia Wylie confirmed this, saying that filming will start in September 2022 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Who Is In The Fourth Season Of The High School Musical?
The next year, season four of High School Musical will put on a production of High School Musical 3: Senior Year to get back to its meta, Wildcat roots. But that’s not all. In season four, East High School will be changed into a place where a made-up version of High School Musical 4: The Reunion will be filmed.
So, more former actors may now join actors like Lucas Grabeel, Kaycee Stroh, and Corbin Bleu who are coming back to the movie business. In an interview, showrunner Tim Federle said that he had sent invitations to all of the High School Musical actors who had made a positive difference in our lives over the first three movies.
Federle adds, “I have to juggle, hold my breath, pray, light candles, and see who wants to play with us.” We’ve gotten a lot of people interested, so I have high hopes, but I can also say that the next season will be very interesting. Back in May, Zac Efron said he was interested in the movie, so don’t be surprised if he ends up taking part in some way.
“Honestly, any chance to work with that team again would be great,” Zac said at the time. I’m still thinking about it. That would be pretty cool. I hope it happens.
Federle said in an interview that almost all of the main characters from the show will be back. This includes newcomers like Saylor Bell’s Maddox and Adrian Lyles’s Jet, as well as Cornett’s EJ, who just graduated but will be back.
Does that mean that JoJo Siwa could show up again? The Dancing with the Stars contestant said, “I immediately said, ‘Yes, I don’t care about the capacity, I don’t care about the day, I don’t care about the time, sign me up.'” In season three, she played Madison.
“I just felt extremely appreciative. It’s a cool, famous show, and it feels like a huge honor to be a part of it.” Olivia Rodrigo, who left at the end of season three, won’t be coming back, though. Federle recently had a long conversation with us about Olivia’s smaller role and leaving the High School Musical series.
Federle says that Olivia has become the most famous music artist in the world, which I think she deserves. Federle said, “I mean if you’ve paid attention to the music business in the last year, you don’t have to be Sherlock Holmes to know that.” “I went to Disney and told them that I thought Olivia should go on a world tour. This is her dream. Let’s do the right thing and help Olivia’s music career take off.
What Can We Expect From The Fourth Season Of The High School Musical?
Tim Federle, who is in charge of High School Musical, came to a conclusion after season three about what comes next and how season four is a “true return to the original.”
He went on to say, “The real return to why the play was accepted in the first place is real theatre kids singing at this famous place called East High. But what comes next after that? Federle says that if the show is likely to be canceled after the fourth season, there is an end in sight:
We’re almost the longest-running reboot, which is something we’re all very thankful for and very proud of. “ I think I’ve casually said that we’ll have seven seasons, and I’d still love that, but other than Cobra Kai, we’re just about the longest-running reboot there is right now.
