Authorities in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh said that on Thursday, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) rescued 51 individuals trapped in cloud burst incident sites in Shehnu Gouni and Kholanala villages.
Heavy rains, landslides, and cloudbursts have caused severe destruction and casualties across the Himalayan state. The Kullu area of Himachal Pradesh was hit by a large landslide on Thursday, causing the collapse of multiple buildings.
The government estimates that 2,237 homes were destroyed and 9,924 homes were damaged somehow. They reported that 4,783 cow barns and 300 stores were destroyed.
On Thursday, former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Jairam Thakur visited the Mandi district village of Kuklah, which was hit hard by a landslide, and he urged his successor, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, to provide food aid to the locals.
