In response to the rising rate of gun violence in the United States, Vice President Joe Biden stated on Tuesday (local time) that he is resolved to pass legislation to outlaw the possession of assault weapons in the country.
In Pennsylvania, Vice President Biden was giving remarks regarding the Safer America Plan.
He went on to explain that he had previously assisted in the banning of assault weapons, referring to the prohibition that was passed in 1994 that he had assisted in ushering in while serving in the United States Senate. Also Read: How Old Is Barron Trump
“My goal is to get rid of assault weapons in this country once and for all. It’s not the first time I’ve done it, and I plan to do it once again “the President of the United States of America said.
He explained that the Safer America Plan will improve overall community safety by allocating more resources to efficient community police.
“When people turn on the news, they see young people being murdered in schools, their neighbors suffering the loss of loved ones due to fentanyl overdoses, and violence taking place on our streets. The desire of families is to regain a sense of security.
Investing in efficient community policing is one of the key components of My Safer America Plan, which will help to increase overall public safety “Biden stated. Notable is the fact that in 1994, Congress established a ban on assault weapons that lasted for ten years.
“In the United States of America in the year 2021, over 48,000 persons lost their lives as a result of gunshot wounds. Over 26,000 people have taken their own lives,” he continued.
In the same speech in which he was promoting his bipartisan gun control law, Joe Biden had also made attacks against the National Rifle Association (NRA).
“…the National Rifle Association, as well as the overwhelming majority of Republicans in Congress, voted against it, which will save lives and keep America safe. But, what do you think?
We have already fought the NRA, and we want to continue doing so. And we came out on top, as we shall do again. “We’re not stopping here,” the President of the United States had previously said.
During his remarks to the gathering at Wilkes University, Vice President Joe Biden made it abundantly clear that he backs law enforcement and disregarded requests to cut funding for the police.
Biden has stated that the “basic premise” of financing law enforcement is the foundation of his plan for a safer America.
When it comes to the issue of public safety in this country, he continued, “the answer is not to defund the police; rather, the answer is to fund the police.”
