On Tuesday, August 8th, the Assam Rifles troops stationed in Bishnupur, Manipur, withdrew.
After hearing reports of more violence, the decision was made to pull the troops out of the region.
Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and state police officers took the role of former Assam Rifles soldiers.
Replaced by the Assam Rifles
L Kailun, the police force’s Additional Director General of Law and Order, issued the order to relocate the Assam Rifles out of the troubled area.
The decision was made following several protests by Manipuri women against the paramilitary forces. Women protesters shut down roadways in defiance of the paramilitary group.
Clashes between two ethnic groups in the valley have resulted in the deaths of around 160 people and the alleged injuries of hundreds more.
The Spear Corps has arrived to lend its aid.
The Assam Rifles had the backing of the Indian Army’s Spear Corps. According to a tweet from the Spear Corps, everyone should “continue to be fair to all and fear none.”
“Some inimical elements have made desperate, repeated, and failed attempts to question the role, intent, and integrity of the Central Security Forces, especially the Assam Rifles, working relentlessly towards saving lives and restoring peace in Manipur from May 3 onwards,” it continued.
The complexities of the situation in Manipur necessitate an appreciation for the fact that security officers there do occasionally disagree on tactics.

Make an effort to smear the reputation
The Spear Corps added, “However, all such misunderstandings at the functional level are immediately addressed through the joint mechanism to synergize the efforts to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.”
In the past day, there have been two separate attempts to defame the Assam Rifles. First, the Assam Rifles Battalion’s actions were under the Unified Headquarters’ order to firmly enforce Buffer Zone norms towards civilians.
The second time Assam Rifles have been relocated to reduce tensions between two communities, it has nothing to do with them.
Since the situation began in May, the location from where the claim that the Assam Rifles were withdrawn has been made has an Army Infantry Battalion stationed there.
The Indian Army and the Assam Rifles have issued a tweet assuring the people of Manipur that they will not back down from their stance against any attempt to inflame an already tense situation.
