Instagram, which is owned by Meta, is testing a new feature that will let users to include tunes in their picture carousels on the website. The tool is already accessible in a “few countries with more to come,” according to Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Meta.
Users of Instagram can already add song tags to specific images, but now they can also add their favorite tunes to the photo carousel as they scroll through the gallery. A new method of adding music to Notes is being tested by Instagram, according to Zuckerberg.
Since Meta released TikTok’s rival Reels, AI recommendations have contributed to a more than 24% increase in time spent on Instagram.

“Reels also keeps getting increasingly social, with individuals sharing it more than 2 billion times daily—a number that has doubled in the last six months. Reels are also boosting overall app engagement, and we think we’re gaining market share in short-form video as well, Zuckerberg said on the call to discuss the company’s latest earnings.
According to him, Reels’ quarter-over-quarter monetization effectiveness has increased by more than 30% on Instagram and more than 40% on Facebook thanks to AI. As we keep enhancing our recommendation system, we’ve noticed a greater incremental impact of Reels time on total service engagement, according to Zuckerberg. Earlier this month, Instagram expanded the number of nations that may receive presents on Reels, added two new metrics to Reels insights, and created a dedicated location for popular audio and hashtags.
