Mortal Kombat 12: Is Mortal Kombat 12 being made by NetherRealm Studios? One of the big questions in the fighting game community right now seems to be this. We know that the studio has been working on a new project since July 2021, when it was announced that support for Mortal Kombat 11 would end so that the developers could focus on “its next project.”
History would tell us that the studio’s next game would be/should be Injustice 3, but with Warner Bros. and Discovery merging and licensing issues surrounding DC superheroes, this seems much less likely. There have also been rumors of a Marvel fighting game, which wouldn’t be the craziest idea since Marvel Games has been working with studios to make new IPs in the past few years.
We think the next game in the series will be Mortal Kombat 12. Read on to learn everything you need to know about the next game in the series. Along with this, the last of us part ii is also the most googled topic nowadays.
Mortal Kombat 12 Leaks
On January 28, 2022, Jonathan Andersen, a senior production manager at NetherRealm, may have given a big hint that the next game from the studio could be Mortal Kombat 12.
Andersen tweeted the picture below, but 10 minutes later, he took it down. Fans with sharp eyes saw a file on his screen called “MK12 Mast.” Fans who want to make the picture even better can also see part of an email that says, “Our fans eagerly scour the Internet for any sign… Extra care should be taken with this.”
Some fans think that this might have been done on purpose. We know that Ed Boon loves to tease his fans. NetherRealm has said nothing about the post, so we’ll have to wait for the studio to say something.
Mortal Kombat 12 Story
For those who haven’t played Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath yet, this section contains spoilers. Fans really need to have played Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath to know what to expect from Mortal Kombat 12. A year after the game came out, the campaign DLC came out.
You can also watch the video on YouTube just below. Those who choose to play as Shang Tsung get the “bad” ending, while those who choose to play as Lord Liu Kang beat Shang Tsung in the “good” ending.
Even though it hasn’t been confirmed yet, most people think that the “good ending” will be a canon from now on. After Shang Tsung is defeated, Lord Liu Kang can use Kronika’s Hourglass to create a new timeline, which he calls his “New Era,” where hopefully none of his friends are “lost.” Besides this, Are you interested to read about Hayley And Taylor Dating?
After a fade to black, we see Lord Liu Kang standing in front of his ancestor, the Great Kung Lao, at the Wu Shi Academy, where several Shaolin monks are training. Lord Liu Kang tells Kung Lao that he has chosen him to be one of his new champions. He then says that Kung Lao must be “prepared” and “trained,” which makes Kung Lao wonder what’s going on.
Lord Liu Kang doesn’t answer, but before the credits roll, he starts to smile. The implication here is that the timeline has been reset and that Mortal Kombat 12 could start a whole new era of Mortal Kombat, possibly hundreds of years before the first Mortal Kombat arcade game.
Mortal Kombat 12 Characters List
At this point, we don’t know for sure which characters might be in Mortal Kombat 12. All of that depends on where this new story goes and how the end of Mortal Kombat 11 affects the established timeline. Also, if this new game really takes place hundreds of years before the first arcade game, it could mean that the characters are very different.
Shang Tsung makes fun of Lord Liu Kang for being cold-blooded because he basically killed his friends to get to the one end that could save the whole timeline. In response, Liu Kang says that his friends “are not gone” and will “live again” in his new era. Who knows, maybe they’ll come back in some way.
For now, though, we only know for sure that Lord Liu Kang, the God of Fire and Thunder, and the Great Kung Lao will be in MK12. Will Raiden be in Mortal Kombat 12? Based on the ending of MK11, where Liu Kang became the god of thunder, it’s hard to say.
Warner Bros Discovery Merger Issues
21 August 2021 – Fans would have been right to think that after Mortal Kombat 11, the next project would be a new game in the Injustice series. We’ve talked about this before, but it has something to do with how Netherrealm jumps from one series to the next. Jeff Grubb, a reporter for VentureBeat, says that could be about to change.
Grubb said on the Giant Bomb podcast that the continued uncertainty about Warner Brothers Games and the Merger with Discovery led NetherRealm to change projects or maybe even give up on the idea of making Injustice 3. “
It fits with what I’ve seen and heard, where Mortal Kombat 12 would make the most sense because they know that game will make money and sell well… Grubb said, “Mortal Kombat 11 was great and is selling well, but if you make Mortal Kombat 12, it will also sell and do well.”
“At the same time, you don’t have to use any of these Batman or Superman characters that might be tied down by licensing if you try to get rid of NetherRealm or sell it to whoever.” Apart from this, Have you heard about Sia’s Net Worth?
Mortal Kombat 12 Release Date

We think it’s likely that MK12 will be shown off in 2022, which is when the 30th anniversary will be celebrated. The game is set to come out in 2023.
No matter what, we know that NeatherRealm’s release schedules usually follow a similar pattern. As the table below shows, the studio usually puts out a new game every two years. If not for the COVID-19 Pandemic and the ongoing problems at Warner Brothers, they might have put something out by now.
