Satish Kaushik Died Last Night Confirmed By Police

In the early hours of last night, actor-director Satish Kaushik became ill while staying at a farmhouse in Delhi’s Bijwasan neighborhood and was taken to a hospital in Gurugram. Authorities said he was already deceased when he arrived at the hospital.

Police sources in Delhi’s South West have indicated there has been no suspicious activity in the actor’s death probe. According to the reports, more investigation will reveal the precise reason and time of death.

Mr. Kaushik flew into Delhi yesterday in preparation for Holi celebrations with his local pals. He went to the Holi party at Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi’s Mumbai apartment the night before and shared images of the celebration on social media.

The police have not yet determined his daytime whereabouts and are actively investigating. What is known is that he was at the Bijwasan farmhouse when he became ill. To no avail, he was rushed to the adjacent Fortis Hospital in Gurugram.

Mr. Kaushik’s manager Santosh Rai was among those who took him to the hospital. As he told the ANI news service, “Around 10:30, he turned in for the night. He called me around 12:10 a.m., saying he couldn’t catch his breath.”

The hospital contacted Delhi Police because the patient originally came from that city. Police took the body to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for an autopsy. This morning, a postmortem was performed, and Mr. Kaushik’s body was released to his loved ones.

The police have been in touch with Mr. Kaushik’s friends, who accompanied him to the hospital. The death of the actor-director just hours after he celebrated Holi with his friends and colleagues has stunned the Indian film industry, and people are pouring out with tributes.

Mr. Kaushik, who was brought up in Karol Bagh but was born in Haryana, attended and graduated from the National School of Theatre. He is well known for playing the hilarious Ashok in the 1983 cult hit Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, for which he also authored the dialogue. Calendar, the cook in the Anil Kapoor and Sridevi film Mr. India, is another fascinating role played by Mr. Kaushik.
