A Hero’s Farewell: Army Dog Kent’s Sacrifice

In the midst of this turmoil, a heartwrenching sacrifice was made by a loyal companion. Kent, a six-year-old female Labrador, laid down her life while shielding her handler during the encounter. Kent was a part of the 21 Army Dog Unit and was at the forefront of ‘Operation Sujaligala’.

Recent Developments in the Rajouri District

This recent encounter follows a similar incident last week when a terrorist was killed in a joint operation conducted by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir police in the Reasi district. Notably, war-like stores, including an AK series assault rifle with magazines, were recovered during the search following the encounter.

Additionally, the Indian Army’s efforts to maintain security in the region were underscored when they successfully demolished an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the same area on September 3.

Arrests Linked to Previous Incidents

Barely two weeks ago, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) made significant arrests in connection with previous incidents. Two individuals were apprehended for harboring terrorists responsible for the tragic killing of five innocent civilians in Dhangri village of Rajouri district in January this year.

The attack, which occurred on January 1, claimed five lives and left several others seriously injured. Initially, the case was registered at the Rajouri Police Station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967, and the Arms Act. Subsequently, the NIA took over and re-registered the case on January 13.

This incident underscores the persistent security challenges faced by the region and the unwavering dedication of the security forces and their loyal companions.
