The operation commenced late on Monday night, triggering a gunbattle between the security forces and the terrorists. Advanced surveillance tools such as drones and night vision devices were utilized to locate the terrorists.
As daylight approached on Tuesday morning, the encounter intensified with heavy exchange of fire between the two sides. The joint efforts of the security forces resulted in the elimination of the terrorists:

The recent incident is part of a series of violent episodes in the region. Earlier this year, there were two ambushes in Poonch and Rajouri districts, leading to the death of ten soldiers. In January, seven Hindus were targeted and killed in Dhangri, Rajouri.
