The Great Season 3: Everything You Need To Know About Great Season 2

The Great Season 3

The Great Season 3: The world is captivated by Elle Fanning’s Catherine the Great; here’s the latest on when we can expect to see Season 3 of The Great. In what month will the third season of The Great be made available to watch online?

Fans of romance and drama have been captivated by the acclaimed “anti-historical” TV series since 2020, which is loosely based on the life of Catherine the Great, the longest-reigning female ruler in Russian history. This two-season show about “an almost entirely untrue story” has made us laugh, cry, and keep our fingers crossed thanks to its many shocking endings.

The Great is jam-packed with engrossing drama, from betrayal and court tension to an all-out civil war in the golden palace. Fans, therefore, understandably await news of the drama’s next episode with bated breath. We can all breathe a sigh of relief now that a third season of The Great has been officially ordered.

You read that right: Elle Fanning will reprise her role as Catherine, this time joined by Nicholas Hoult in the role of Peter III. But you may be wondering, “What are the royals going to do in the next episode of the hit show?” You might also be wondering when and where you can go see it for yourself.

The Digital Fix is here to assist you. The juicy gossip from Catherine’s court has been collected, and we intend to share it with you. Here is everything we know about The Great season 3, including when it will premiere, who will be in it, and a trailer.

The Great Season 3: Release Date

There has been no announcement about when Season 3 of The Great will premiere as of January 2023. The good news is that production on The Great season 3 has begun. The series was renewed for a ten-episode second season in January 2022, and Hulu made the happy announcement. The news was confirmed by a tweet of joy.

The first season of The Great premiered on May 15, 2020, but due to the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, the second season didn’t air until November 19, 2021. Since lockdowns are no longer in effect, the time between seasons should be shorter this time around (fingers crossed).

The Great season 3 will likely premiere in late 2022 at the earliest, taking into account a realistic production schedule now that the pandemic is no longer causing any major delays. As soon as we have more information, we will be sure to share it with you.

The Great Season 3: Plot

While the specifics of what our favorite monarch will be up to in season 3 of The Great remain a mystery, hints have been dropped by the cast and producers as well as the cliffhanger ending of season 2.

The second season ended with a climax that included numerous deaths, emotional breakdowns, and the culmination of tangled interpersonal dynamics. Catherine’s diplomatic solutions ultimately lead to her killing the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire and facing intense pressure to assassinate her dethroned husband, Peter, in a dramatic climax.

Also, Peter found himself in a difficult position during the ongoing struggle for the throne. The imprisoned king had to make a choice between his life and his love for Catherine after his closest friends and the slick ex-king of Sweden told him that killing Catherine was necessary for his own peace of mind.

It would appear that the husband and wife are engaged in yet another civil war. They’ve been together before, but this time they really care about one another, so things are heating up.

In the second season finale, Catherine decided to end Peter’s challenge to her rule once and for all by stabbing him in the back while she sobbed. Nonetheless, it was later revealed that she had murdered a lookalike instead of her actual husband (oops). Peter came out to console her after witnessing her remorse, but they soon came to terms with the uncomfortable truth that, despite their love for one another, they also wanted to kill each other.

Season 3 will likely see them trying to find a middle ground where they can both live, and Peter will keep showing that he has changed and truly cares about his family by spending more time with his wife and son. Instead of the power-hungry monster from the first season who nearly drowned Catharine, this one actually cares about her.

Series creator Tony McNamara shared some insight into the show’s future with Entertainment Weekly: “We end the [second] season with everyone in a very, very different place. The third season seems to center on the court, with Catherine moving into a more prominent leadership role and Peter coming to terms with the kind of man he wants to be.

What happens to her best friend Merial is likely to unfold in tandem with Peter and Catherine’s future tribulations. After Maria exposed Peter for having an affair with and accidentally killing Catherine’s mother Joanna, the Queen put her in prison. How do Catherine and Peter plan to make up now that they know for sure that she loves Peter? What will happen next is anyone’s guess.

War is likely to escalate as Catherine’s actions with the Sultan have angered him, and the archbishop with a penchant for excess, Archie, is still struggling to find his faith. Basically, there’s going to be so much meaty drama and tension in The Great season 3’s ten episodes that you’ll be hard-pressed to find any breathing room.

Regardless of the season’s new storyline, we know that Catherine’s story will continue. In 2020, the show’s executive producer, Marian Macgowan, told Decider that the possibility of three more seasons beyond the upcoming one was on the table. She elaborated, “We initially pitched six seasons.” We anticipate having enough resources to last until Catherine is an elderly lady.

The Great Season 3: Cast

Those familiar with The Great know that the season 3 premiere will feature the return of the entire royal court. Both Elle Fanning, who plays Queen Catherine, and Nicholas Hoult, who plays her careless husband Peter, will return.

Since most of the leading couple’s confidants and advisors are still alive and (with the exception of a few who are imprisoned) un-exiled, they too will be returning.

Potential Season 3 cast members of The Great include the following:

Dustin Demri-Burns, who plays Voltaire, will almost certainly return to the role, as Catherine will continue to consult with him as she tries to establish a peaceful alternative to the current system of government.

Catharine’s husband is still trying to better himself and relinquish his right to the throne, so Jason Isaacs could make a return appearance as Peter’s father, Peter the Great.

None of these, however, has been verified as of yet. Keep this reference book bookmarked for when the updates begin to trickle in.

The Great Season 3: Trailer

Sorry to disappoint Catherine devotees, but there is no third-season trailer for The Great yet. I’m afraid we haven’t heard anything yet on this front because filming hasn’t begun and there isn’t enough material for a trailer for the upcoming season.

The next teaser for the Emmy-nominated show has not yet been released, but we will let you know as soon as it does.
