Tokyo Revengers Season 2 (May 2022 Updates)

The production of the Tokyo Revengers Season 2 anime TV series has been confirmed. When will Tokyo Revengers 2 be released, though? And now that voice actor Tatsuhisa Suzuki has stepped down, who will play Draken?

The Tokyo Revengers Season 2 release date, according to a self-described “well-known anime blogger” on Chinese Weibo, will be on July 3, 2022 (after midnight on July 2, 2022), during the Summer 2022 anime season.

Obviously, this information has not been confirmed by official sources and should be seen as a rumor. Many of the largest anime news leaks come from China, so this story can’t be fully dismissed out of hand, but it’s becoming increasingly implausible.

The release date for Tokyo Revengers 2 was still unknown as of early May 2022. As a result, it’s generally safe to dismiss this claim given untrue, as every major anime project’s release date is usually disclosed within six months of its premiere.

Tokyo Revengers: Seiya Kessen is the title of the second season in Japanese. The anime sequel will be titled Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown, according to BD/DVD distributor Pony Canyon.

Because the plot takes place around Christmas, this title is most likely a reference to the manga series’ Black Dragon story arc. Because the Christmas Showdown arc is roughly the same length as the Valhalla arc, Tokyo Revengers Season 2 is quite likely to be a single cour anime season. Here’s the official teaser:-

You might wonder what a “cour” is. A “cour,” for those unfamiliar with the jargon, is a three-month period of television broadcasting based on physical seasons, which are usually made of 10 to 13 episodes.

Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown was announced on December 18, 2021, at the Tokyo Revengers special event Tokyo Manjikai Tachikawa Touring. With the exception of Draken, who will be replaced, all of the primary Japanese voice actors were there.

Anime news leakers said the second season was already in early production even before it was officially confirmed. Sugoi LITE tweeted on December 3, 2021, “Tokyo Revengers TV Anime Season 2 in development.” #toman anime SPY tweeted on December 12, 2021, “Tokyo Revengers Season 2 Confirmed.”

Both Sugoi LITE and SPY have a track record of accurate anime news leaks. This isn’t the first time that anime news leakers have hinted at a second season.

A different leaker stated Tokyo Revengers 2 was already under development in May 2021. At the time, it was easy to believe such leaks because the manga had set records and the anime had done well. (For more information, see the section below on release date projections.)

Even before the Christmas Showdown arc was officially announced, the talent management agency of voice actor Tatsuhisa Suzuki, who voiced Draken in the first season, indirectly confirmed the Tokyo Revengers Season 2 anime.

Suzuki and his wife, Lisa, had already announced their absence from all entertainment industry events after claims that Suzuki had an affair with a female coworker surfaced in July 2021. Suzuki was hospitalized when the scandal became known, but Lisa is said to have visited him and forgiven him.

Many anime fans were anxious that Suzuki would not reprise his role as Ryuguji Ken aka Draken in Tokyo Revengers 2 despite the fact that he has significantly changed his lifestyle and appears to be working things out with his wife.

Suzuki’s talent management office responded by implying to Yahoo News Japan that Tokyo Revengers Season 2 is already in the works.

“The second season of the anime has already begun production, and an announcement is expected by the end of this year,” the reps said on December 12, 2021. “However, at this time, there are no plans to deploy Mr. Suzuki, which will be disappointing to him and his followers.”

Suzuki’s management office could not say if Suzuki would return as Draken or not at the moment. Suzuki, however, was “replaced after discussions between the office and the committee,” according to the official website on December 26, 2021. The Tokyo Revengers cast and crew will continue to collaborate on the Christmas Showdown storyline.”

The voice actor had earlier stepped down from his position as Ultraman Taro in the Ultraman Season 2 anime TV series, which will premiere in 2022 on Netflix. Suzuki dropped out of the lead character of Anos Voldigoad in The Misfit of Demon King Academy Season 2 anime in early December 2021. Suzuki also appears in the anime sequels My Next Life as a Villainess and Free! The Final Stroke.
