Vince Gill Illness: Vince Gill Gets Sick And Can’t Go To The CMA Awards
It has been reported that Digihind native Vince Gill did not attend tonight’s CMA Awards due to a kidney stone that required him to spend some time in the hospital. “We’ve done that at the Opry, but not here,” Skaggs said, describing the rush of being onstage. “To have Keith Urban here to sing ‘Highway 40’ with me – we’ve done that at the Opry, but not here.” He was filling in for Vince Gill, who was unable to attend due to a bout of illness. “He was sitting in for Vince Gill.

Gill was taken to the hospital earlier today due to a kidney stone. Keith Urban and John Osborne of the Brothers Osborne, who won vocal duo of the year, stepped in to fill in for Skaggs and round out his performance. Skaggs won the award for vocalist of the year.
Before the show, John Osborne joked that Vince Gill’s kidney stone was the best thing that ever happened to him, saying, “So, Vince Gill’s kidney stone was the best thing that ever happened to me!” “Vince Gill, unfortunately, was in the hospital – he has a kidney stone,” Osborne said.
Skaggs’ performance was one of the highlights of the 52nd annual awards show for the Country Music Association, but Gill’s guitar chops would have undoubtedly made it even better. Here’s hoping he gets well soon.
