Vinland Saga Season 2 Release Date Status Announcement

The Vinland Saga Season 2 anime TV series is officially in the works! WIT Studio will also not be handling the Vinland Saga Season 2 project. Studio MAPPA will develop the anime TV sequel instead. The anime creators also expressed their wish for a comprehensive adaptation of the manga. Does this imply that Vinland Saga Seasons 3 and 4 will be released?

On July 7, 2021, the second season of the Vinland Saga anime was officially announced.

Twin Engine’s first announcement of the second season includes a Vinland Saga Season 2 trailer, which teases the new tale. (A complete trailer PV is currently being developed.)

But when will the sequel to Vinland Saga be released?

Abiru Takahiko, character designer/chief animation director, acknowledged that actual work was still in progress on April 19, 2022, but gave no indication of when Vinland Saga Season 2 would be released.

“It has been a long time since we announced the production of [Vinland Saga] Season 2,” he tweeted. “We’re still working on the animation, so please bear with us for a little while.”

“The day when the Viking Age is considered to have begun is approaching,” Vinland Saga Season 2 director Shuuhei Yabuta responded to this tweet. Perhaps he’s hinting that the complete Vinland Saga Season 2 trailer PV release will be on June 8, 2022?

Reddit users reported on a May 1, 2022, Twitter Spaces chat between director Yabuta and Vinland Saga manga creator Makoto Yukimura. Yukimura apparently verified the earlier speculation that Vinland Saga Season 2 will be produced by a different studio by noting that he overlooked the fact that the animation team “went from WIT to MAPPA” during this debate.

Employees who previously worked on Vinland Saga Season 1 at WIT Studio have relocated to Studio MAPPA, making the studio shift rumor legitimate months ago. Director Yabuta, for example, joined MAPPA in May 2020 and worked on Attack On Titan: The Final Season’s first promotional video clip before moving on to the Vinland Saga Season 2 production.

Studio MAPPA may already be overburdened with tasks. Chainsaw Man, Jigokuraku, Dance Dance Danseur, Kakegurui Twin, and the Yuri on Ice movie have all been announced by February 2022.

Given that the box office for Jujutsu Kaisen surpassed that of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, the Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 anime was announced to be in development in 2022. The release date for Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 3 has also been set for 2023.

After Yukimura’s revelation, the director cut him off and joked about releasing confidential material, which could lead to the second season’s termination. The director also stated that the animation team will not change, which is the most crucial component.

Director Yabuta has stated for a long time that the core creative team for Vinland Saga 2 will mostly be the same as the first season.

“Time flies by. On July 25, 2021, the director tweeted, “Our crew had numerous challenges to solve this year, and we made difficult decisions.” “But, thankfully, the team composition is nearly identical, and we are determined to focus on this season.”

The filmmaker mentioned that he is in the middle of preparing or editing the Vinland Saga Season 2 teaser PV during the May 2022 Twitter Space chat. Since Yukimura mentioned some of the seiyuu, they observed that Snake’s voice is quite manly and attractive. The second point is crucial because VAs often do not begin working until near the conclusion of the project.

Furthermore, because it is the final arc, the Vinland Saga manga’s conclusion is approaching. According to anime news Twitter user Komi, the manga series may get a “complete adaptation,” which means Studio MAPPA will adapt the entire tale into an anime series.

Remember, this is not an official confirmation of Vinland Saga Seasons 3 and 4. It’s probable that all Yukimura was expressing was his wish for the manga to be fully animated, rather than that the producer had already given the go-ahead to develop the further sequels. The official Twitter handle of Vinland Saga has made it clear by Twitting

“Unfortunately, erroneous information,” the Vinland Saga World Twitter account announced plainly. “This may be a mistranslation,” Komi confessed the next day.

Vinland Saga mangaka Makoto Yukimura, publisher Kodansha, Studio MAPPA, and Studio Kafka will make up the Vinland Saga Season 2 anime production committee, according to Animehype. Keep in mind that this information has not been confirmed by an official source and should be considered a rumor.
