American TV host, comedian, actor, and musician Wayne Alphonso Brady was born on June 2, 1972. He is a regular cast member on Whose Line Is It Anyway? (the U.S. version) and is known for his improvisational comedy.
Previously, he presented the daytime talk show The Wayne Brady Show. Currently, he hosts the game show Let’s Make a Deal, which he has done since its relaunch in 2009.
In addition to his role as James Stinson in the American television series How I Met Your Mother, Brady appeared as Simon (also known as drag queen Lola) from November 2015 to March 2016 in the Tony Award-winning musical Kinky Boots on Broadway.
Wayne Brady’s Personal Life
Brady has gone through two marriages. On December 31, 1993, he wed Diana Lasso. On September 21, 1995, they officially separated.
He married dancer Mandie Taketa on April 3, 1999. Maile Masako Brady, his only child with Taketa, was born on February 3, 2003. On April 5, 2006, Brady and Taketa announced their separation. On July 2, 2007, Taketa filed for divorce.
Brady joined the Friends of RMHC, a celebrity advisory group for Ronald McDonald House Charities, in 2007. In 2013, Bill Maher said that Brady was like President Obama in that they were “not black enough” in the eyes of the public.
Brady objected, warning Maher to “be careful when he makes statements like that” so that his audience wouldn’t be influenced to have the same negative stereotypes she did.
Clinical depression is something Brady is familiar with. He experienced a nervous breakdown on his 42nd birthday in 2014 and thanked Taketa for getting him back on his feet. Brady has been inducted into the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity as an honorary member.
