Wednesday Season 2: Prepare for the snaps. What we have discovered about Wednesday is likely to put a smile on the face of Wednesday Addams herself. Kooky and spooky in both senses of the word, this contemporary dark comedy reimagines the classic The Addams Family remake by focusing on the grimmest goth from the lore as she enrolls in a school for students with supernatural abilities, where strange occurrences begin to take place.
The Netflix series, which is based on a Tim Burton creation, has managed to confound and captivate viewers in equal measure. It managed to amass 341.2 million (!) hours of viewership in just its first week, which allowed it to unseat Stranger Things from its previous position as the most-watched show.
On par with Wednesday, we are craning our necks to try and imagine what will come after this. Both the cast and the showrunners have dropped a few hints about the direction the show will take in the future.
So, without further ado, here is everything that we know about the upcoming second season of Wednesday, including what the show’s creators have said about a possible release date, who might be joining the cast, and more:
Is there going to be a second season of Wednesday?
It would be positively morbid if Netflix did not pick up Wednesday for a new season considering its record-breaking run. We wait with bated breath for official word, but in the meantime, we wait with bated breath. In addition to this, co-creator Miles Millar stated in an interview with Variety on November 28 that they “always lay out at least three or four seasons’ worth of potential storylines for the characters.”
He added: “Always keeping one eye on the future is a priority for us, and when we sit down to develop a new show, we do so with the intention of expanding it over a number of seasons whenever possible. That is never going to happen, but on the off chance that it does, it’s a sign of hope that the show will be successful… We have a pretty good idea of what we want to accomplish in the upcoming seasons, so the runway is pretty clear.”
Wednesday season 2: Cast
While we are still tallying up the official cast of Wednesday for the upcoming season, we anticipate more from the members of the Addams family. That encompasses all of these
- Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams
- Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams
- Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams
- Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams
- Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester
- George Burcea as Lurch
The characters were left on quite the cliffhanger as the first season came to a close on Wednesday. The cliffhanger involved Tyler (Hunter Doohan), who was restrained in the back of an armored vehicle as he transformed into Hyde. Laurel (Christina Ricci), who was exposed as the mastermind behind the unsolved crimes, was stung by bees but managed to escape unharmed.
While this was going on, Enid (Emma Myers), finally began to make use of all of her werewolf abilities. Wednesday was recently reconciled with Xavier (Percy Hynes White), and as a token of his affection, he gave her a cell phone as a gift. However, shortly after, she received an odd message that made her suspect that she was being followed.
Even though Principal Weems met her unfortunate demise at Nevermore, it is possible that this was not the last nail in her coffin. In an interview with Digital Spy, the actress Gwendoline Christie hinted at the following: “Do we not recall seeing her coffin being lowered into the ground? My impression is that Larissa Weems is not the type of person who is ready to acknowledge or allow herself to be dominated by something as mundane as death.”

What can we anticipate from the second season of Wednesday?
In a conversation with TVLine, showrunners Miles and Al Gough disclosed that they are interested in delving further into the Addams family dynamic. Miles was quoted as saying to the outlet that “we just touched the surface with those characters,” and that the actors who play those roles are “so amazing.”
“Catherine is, in my opinion, an iconic representation of Morticia. The dynamic that exists between Wednesday and Morticia is also very important to the show, and the fact that Wednesday is attempting to carve out a life for herself apart from the rest of the family is of utmost significance.
That, however, does not imply that it will deviate from the series’ namesake in any way. According to a revelation made by Al to TVLine, “The series is really about a girl who sees the world in black and white, and learning there are shades of grey.”
He added: “I believe that it is possible for it to become complicated by other factors, just like any other relationship or friendship. Things are not going to go swimmingly at any point. And the real lesson for her is how to navigate the highs and lows that come with having a friend.”
