How Old Was Zac Efron When He Starred In High School Musical ??

High School Musical is a 2006 American musical television film directed by Kenny Ortega and written by Peter Barsocchini. The film stars Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu, and Monique Coleman and is the 63rd Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM). In High School Musical, Troy Bolton (Efron), the basketball team captain, and Gabriella Montez (Hudgens), an intellectually talented transfer student, compete for major roles in their school musical, generating conflict among the school’s cliques.

High School Musical was mostly shot in Utah, with locales including East High School, Murray High School, and Salt Lake City. The additional shooting took conducted in Los Angeles. According to Barsocchini and many reviewers, the film is a contemporary rendition of Romeo and Juliet.

Efron graduated from Arroyo Grande High School in 2006 and was admitted to the University of Southern California but did not attend. The adolescent musical television film High School Musical (2006), which was broadcast on the Disney Channel in January 2006, was a watershed moment in Efron’s career. The film, which has been regarded as a contemporary retelling of Romeo and Juliet, starred Efron as Troy Bolton, a high school basketball player who is confused between performing in the school musical with Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Hudgens), a girl from the scholastic decathlon team. The picture, which also featured Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu, and Monique Coleman in crucial parts, was a huge hit and helped Efron achieve a reputation among adolescent audiences. The soundtrack of the film was certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA, making it one of the best-selling albums of the year in the United States. When it was found that his voice had been combined with Drew Seeley’s on the album, Efron noted that the songs (made for a tenor) were composed before he was cast and so did not fit his more baritone vocal range. Efron sang in his later musical flicks.

Efron was next seen as Link Larkin in the musical comedy picture Hairspray (2007), which was based on the 2002 Broadway musical of the same name. When it was released in July 2007, the picture became a huge financial and critical success. Later that year, he was seen repeating his role as Troy Bolton in High School Musical 2 (2007), which premiered on the Disney Channel in August 2007. Efron resumed his role as Troy Bolton in High School Musical 3: Senior Year (2008), the first film in the High School Musical trilogy to be released theatrically. The film was a box office smash, receiving mixed to excellent reviews from reviewers. He followed this with the financially successful comedy 17 Again (2009), about a 37-year-old guy (Matthew Perry) who is accidentally converted into his 17-year-old self (Efron).
