Bangladesh requests India for urgent supply of 50,000 tonnes of Rice amid food crisis

Date:

In a significant development, Bangladesh has urgently requested India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to supply 50,000 tonnes of rice at a discounted price due to rapidly depleting food reserves and rising inflation.

The Bangladeshi food ministry is set to import Indian rice at a rate of $456.67 per tonne to replenish critically low cereal stocks in the country. This move highlights the growing concerns over food security in Bangladesh as inflation continues to impact staple supplies.

India’s prompt support is seen as crucial in stabilizing the situation and addressing the immediate food shortage.
