BJP focuses on Women-centric welfare in Delhi poll manifesto

Date:

Union Minister JP Nadda announced the BJP’s manifesto for the February 5 Delhi Assembly elections, highlighting women-centric welfare measures and accusing the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of corruption.

The manifesto, titled ‘Sankalp Patra,’ promises comprehensive support for women, senior citizens, and underprivileged communities.

Key pledges include one-time financial assistance of ₹21,000 for pregnant women, six nutritional kits, ₹5,000 for the first child, and ₹6,000 for the second child. Under the proposed Mahila Smriddhi Yojana, women will also receive ₹2,500 per month.

Nadda criticized the AAP for failing to fulfill its 2021 promise of providing ₹1,000 monthly assistance to women in Delhi and Punjab. He further assured voters that existing public welfare schemes in the capital would continue under BJP governance.

Other measures include a ₹500 subsidy on LPG cylinders and two free cylinders during Diwali and Holi. The BJP also plans to implement the central Ayushman Bharat health scheme in its first cabinet meeting, promising enhanced health coverage of ₹10 lakh for senior citizens.

A new pension scheme will offer ₹2,000-₹2,500 for those aged 60-70 and ₹3,000 for those above 70. Divyang individuals and widows would also receive ₹3,000 in financial support.

The manifesto includes setting up Atal Canteens in slums to provide meals at ₹5 and expanding affordable healthcare. Nadda accused the AAP of mismanaging Mohalla Clinics, alleging a ₹300 crore scam, and vowed to investigate the allegations if the BJP comes to power.

By placing women and vulnerable communities at the center of its policies, the BJP aims to challenge the AAP’s governance and secure voter confidence in the upcoming elections.
