Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of settling Bangladeshi and Rohingya migrants in Delhi’s Okhla, calling it a “sin.”
Speaking at a rally in Mangolpuri, he alleged that AAP’s governance had led to the deterioration of civic infrastructure, forcing many Delhi residents to relocate to Noida and Ghaziabad in search of better facilities.
Adityanath also criticized the Kejriwal-led AAP government for the pollution in the Yamuna River. He stated that during his journey from Ghaziabad to Delhi, he noticed a strong foul smell from the river, which he described as resembling a sewer.
Blaming AAP for the river’s condition, he urged Delhi residents to elect a BJP government to bring about change.
Taking a jibe at Kejriwal, Adityanath challenged AAP leaders to prove their commitment by taking a dip in the Yamuna, similar to his recent holy dip in the Sangam at Prayagraj during the Maha Kumbh.
The Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for February 5, will see 699 candidates contesting 70 seats, with results announced on February 8. AAP is seeking a third consecutive term after securing 67 seats in 2015 and 62 in 2020.
The BJP, which won only three and eight seats in those elections, aims to improve its standing. Meanwhile, the Congress, which once ruled Delhi for 15 years, has faced significant electoral setbacks, failing to win any seats in the last two elections.
