Interim Bail Granted to Brij Bhushan in Alleged S*xual Harassment Case!!

Date:

BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and WFI official Vinod Tomar have been granted interim bail for two days in an alleged s*xual harassment case.

The Delhi court approved the bail application, releasing the duo on a bail bond of ₹25,000 each. The court will list the bail application for detailed arguments in the future.

Advocate Rajeev Mohan and advocate Rehan Khan, representing Singh and Tomar, moved bail applications, citing that the chargesheet was filed without arrest. They argued for bail and raised concerns about the media trial based on the chargesheet’s allegations.

Public prosecutor Atul Srivastava opposed the bail application, presenting counter-arguments against granting interim bail to Singh and Tomar.

The Court’s Decision for the Case

The court instructed the defense counsel to file an appropriate application regarding the alleged media trial. The matter has been listed for hearing arguments on the regular bail application of Singh and Tomar on July 20.

The court had issued a summons to the BJP MP on July 7 when it took cognizance of the chargesheet filed by the Delhi Police.

Breaking news of India:

Charges and Witnesses of the Case

The chargesheet, filed on June 15, accused Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh under sections 354 (assault or criminal force with intent to outrage modesty), 354A (s*xual harassment), and 354D (stalking). Vinod Tomar was charged under sections 354, 354A, 109 (ab*tment), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The chargesheet highlighted that 108 witnesses were examined during the investigation, with 15 corroborating the allegations against Singh and Tomar.

The chargesheet mentioned that further supplementary chargesheets would be filed in the case, pending the forensic results of digital devices and analysis of call data records (CDRs).

Additional FIR and Cancellation Report

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh also faces another FIR filed by a minor, although she later changed her statement before a magistrate. On June 15, the police filed a 552-page cancellation report in the second FIR due to a lack of corroborative evidence against the accused.

The court has sought a response from the minor woman wrestler and her family regarding the cancellation report, and the case has been scheduled for further hearing on August 1.

India surpasses the number of new headlines administered in a single day:

Protests by Indian Wrestlers

Indian wrestlers, including Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia, and Vinesh Phogat, protested at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, demanding Singh’s arrest for 38 days. However, the police detained them for “violating law and order” on May 28, the new Parliament’s inauguration.

The wrestlers suspended their protest after assurances from Union Minister Anurag Thakur that a chargesheet would be filed against Singh by June 15.

Conclusion

The interim bail granted to Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and Vinod Tomar in the alleged s*xual harassment case allows them temporary freedom:

The court will hear detailed arguments on their regular bail application in the future. The case involves serious charges, and the court will continue to assess the evidence and hear testimonies from witnesses.

The protests by Indian wrestlers and the subsequent investigation highlight the importance of addressing allegations of s*xual harassment with sensitivity and thoroughness.
