Delhi Horror: Scooter Rider Killed After Car Door Flung Open, Bus Runs Over Him – CCTV Video Shocks Internet

Date:

In a tragic accident that unfolded within seconds, a 30-year-old scooter rider lost his life in southwest Delhi after crashing into a suddenly opened car door and being run over by a bus near Uttam Nagar West Metro Station.

Accident Happened in a Split Second

The victim, identified as Daksh (30), was riding his scooter at a normal speed when a passenger inside a car abruptly opened the rear door—directly into his path. With no time to react, the rider slammed into the door and was thrown onto the road.

Moments later, a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus approaching from behind ran over him. He died on the spot.

The entire incident was captured on CCTV (or dashcam) footage, which has now gone viral, leaving viewers shaken and reigniting concerns over road safety in the capital.

Eyewitnesses said the crash was so sudden that the rider had virtually no chance to avoid the collision.

Police Probe Begins, Passenger Under Scanner

Officials from the Dwarka district police confirmed that the accident was triggered by the passenger’s failure to check for oncoming traffic before opening the car door.

A case has been registered, and authorities are carefully reviewing the video footage to trace the vehicle and identify those involved. The bus driver has also been questioned, though early findings suggest he had little time or space to prevent the fatal runover.

What Is ‘Dooring’ — And Why It’s Dangerous

The incident is a classic example of a “dooring” accident—when a vehicle door is opened into the path of moving traffic.

In congested cities like Delhi, where two-wheelers often pass close to parked or slow-moving vehicles, such actions can turn deadly in seconds.

Rising Road Safety Concerns in India

India continues to witness a high number of road fatalities, with two-wheeler riders among the most vulnerable. Experts stress that “dooring” is entirely preventable if basic precautions are followed.

Under the Motor Vehicles Act, opening a vehicle door without ensuring it is safe is a violation. However, enforcement remains inconsistent, especially in high-traffic urban areas.

Similar incidents have been reported in cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, raising urgent calls for stricter enforcement and better awareness.

Safety Tips That Can Save Lives

  • Always check mirrors and blind spots before opening a car door
  • Follow the rule: Look → Think → Open
  • Two-wheeler riders should maintain a safe distance from parked or slow vehicles
  • Stay alert in dense traffic zones
