BMW crashes into divider near Delhi Gate; police probe reckless driving

Date:

A BMW crashed into a divider after colliding with another car near Delhi Gate on Thursday afternoon. The vehicle, registered to Aas Mohammad, alias Ashu Pehalwan, a criminal banned from entering Delhi, sustained significant damage in the incident.

The driver, 20-year-old Sukhwinder Singh, suffered minor injuries, while a Class VI student, who was also in the car, escaped unhurt. Fortunately, no pedestrians were harmed.

Police are investigating the accident, focusing on possible causes like speeding or reckless driving. Singh’s medical examination will determine if he was under the influence of alcohol at the time.

Eyewitnesses captured video footage showing the BMW with extensive damage to its front bumper and bonnet. Metal rods from the divider’s railing had pierced through the bonnet, highlighting the intensity of the crash.

The collision briefly disrupted traffic in the area, causing snarls during the afternoon. A case for rash and negligent driving has been filed at the IP Estate Police Station, and investigations are underway to establish further details about the circumstances leading to the crash.
