Police said one elderly widow in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, had to walk hours with her son’s body on a cart to the crematorium after failing to find a hearse. A popular video showed the mom and her younger son bringing the body on a cart and asking for help performing his final rites.
Probed why there was no hearse vehicle
Meerut Chief Medical Officer Akhilesh Mohan ordered an investigation into why no hearse was provided to transport the corpse to the crematorium. All hospitals in our district have hearses. In such cases, we give the vehicle to the family. Mohan stated he initiated an investigation into this occurrence and will speak afterward.
Dead Raju was found near a wine shop.
According to accounts, alcoholic Raju was discovered dead near a wine shop on Tuesday. His body lay there for hours before his mother and younger brother appeared.

When they couldn’t find a car to take Raju’s body to the Crematory, they carried it around on a cart. They asked passersby for money to transport Raju’s body to the crematorium and execute his funeral rituals.
The sad mother-son duo sought help at a nearby police station
When no one helped, the disappointed mother-son duo went to a neighboring police station. Sub-Inspector Amit Kumar Malik raised monies and performed the deceased’s last rites for the family. The family moved from Etawah to Meerut for jobs, according to authorities.
