Exploring the Renaming of 8 Railway Stations in UP

Date:

The identities of eight railway stations in the state of Uttar Pradesh have undergone modifications following a request given out by the Northern Railways.

The highly skilled authority has granted its acceptance to bring the change in the name of 8 stations that fall under the Lucknow division of the Northern Railways.

The stations that have fresh names are Nihalgarh, Kasimpur Halt, Fursatganj, Jais, Misrauli, Bani, Akbarganj, and Wazirganj Halt.

What are the new names of the stations?

The names of eight railway stations in the Lucknow division have been changed as follows:

Current Name Former Name
Maa Ahorva Bhawani Dham Akbarganj
Guru Gorakhnath Dham Jais
Tapeshwarnath Dham Fursatganj
Maharaja Bijli Pasi Nihalgarh
Jais City Kasimpur Halt
Swami Paramhans Bani
Amar Shaheed Bhale Sultan Wazirganj Halt
Maa Kalikan Dham Misrauli

At this point, the Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav, who is an MP, requested the BJP government not only to modify the names of railway stations but also to amend their circumstances.

Yadav appeared on social media to criticize the government, demanding that they give priority to the safety of railways instead of changing the name.

This is what Yadav posted on X:

“There is a request to the BJP government to change not just the names but also the conditions of the railway stations. … And when you get free time from changing names, then take some time out and think about preventing record-breaking railway accidents.”
