Kejriwal criticizes centre, defends welfare schemes in Delhi

Date:

AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Monday criticized the Centre for its handling of Delhi’s issues during his time in jail. In a sharp rebuke, he challenged Union Home Minister Amit Shah, saying, “If you cannot manage Delhi, say it openly, and our 1.25 crore sisters will set everything right.”

Kejriwal accused the BJP of creating a dual power structure in the capital. “Today, there are two governments in Delhi—one led by Kejriwal and one by the Centre,” he remarked, suggesting this duality hindered progress.

He also blamed the BJP for rising inflation, citing the increased prices of essential commodities like milk, vegetables, pulses, and rice. “They are responsible for rising inflation, while we are working to make essentials free,” he stated, emphasizing his government’s efforts to ease the financial burden on citizens.

Responding to BJP leaders, criticism of his welfare schemes, particularly those targeting women, Kejriwal dismissed their remarks as baseless. “They accuse me of wasting money and spoiling women with welfare programs. Let them say what they want,” he said, defending his administration’s initiatives aimed at empowering women and other vulnerable groups.

Kejriwal further criticized the BJP for lacking a clear election agenda, claiming, “This time, they have no real issues to present to the voters.”

Reaffirming his commitment to the people of Delhi, Kejriwal announced that Rs 2,100 would soon be transferred into the accounts of women under ongoing welfare schemes. He pledged that his government would continue its fight to improve the lives of Delhi’s residents despite opposition from the Centre and BJP leaders.
