The decision of Lysa Terkeurst to Get Divorced After Trying Hard to Save Her Marriage!

Date:

Lysa TerKeurst has decided to get a divorce after trying hard to save her marriage. Despite the pain, she has stayed ‘solid’ in her faith. The best-selling author Lysa TerKeurst and her husband Art have decided to end their nearly 30-year marriage because Art has chosen patterns of behavior that dishonor God and the biblical covenant of marriage.

TerKeurst posted the news on social media. She is the founder of Proverbs 31 Ministries and the author of several New York Times bestsellers, such as “It’s Not Supposed to Be This Way and Forgiving What You Can’t Forget.”

The 52-year-old woman said that even though she and her husband renewed their marriage vows three years ago after a “painful separation,” he has since “broken those vows.”

LYSA TERKEURST DIVORCE

She wrote the following lines on Instagram to express her self:

Two years of healing. Two years of focusing on my own health. Two years of learning how to sit in the quiet with myself and be okay. Two years of believing God for goodness even when things felt not good at all. Two years of learning to go home to an empty house and counting the blessings that are still abundant. Two years… and I’m good. Better than good. I’m honestly surprised by how far I’ve come and how honest my laughter is now. My life looks different but it is full and joyful and I’m more grateful than I’ve ever been. ❤️

TerKeust, who has five kids, said that she thinks the  “wisest (and hardest) choice I can make is to stop fighting to save my marriage of 29 years and, instead, accept reality.”

In 2017, TerKeurst said she was going to get a divorce from her husband because he had cheated on her and had problems with drugs. In an interview with The Christian Post, she said that it was “excruciatingly painful” for her. But after working on their marriage for a little more than a year, they renewed their vows.

We just released recent news articles. Read more on the source page:

TerKeurst has been open about the mental turmoil she went through because of her husband’s actions, as well as God’s continued presence in her life, over the years.

“I would just encourage anybody who’s walking through stuff — there’s someone else who needs to hear your story,” she said in a 2021 interview. “I think everyone has life wisdom, evidence of God’s faithfulness and experiences. … And I think when we share our stories, if we focus on those things rather than the details of how we were hurt, that’s where it becomes really helpful for other people.”

But over the years, she never told anyone about her position. And in her most recent post, the speaker and author said that there is “clear biblical justification for my decision to end this marriage,” but she is still keeping most of the details private out of respect for the couple’s children and grandchildren and “to give space and privacy for my family and me to continue to heal.”

“I don’t like this reality, but the truth is, relationship restoration doesn’t always work. I’ve cried and grieved over this and waited years hoping this wouldn’t be our story. But even when restoration doesn’t work, forgiveness always does.”

Even though she was going through a hard time, the leader of the church said, she has never been more thankful for what God has done in her heart through the power of forgiveness to make it whole again.

“Bitterness and resentment could be eating me alive. But, miraculously, that’s not where I’m at. With time, prayer, and lots of counseling, my heart is healing,” she wrote.

Here are some fresher news items. Here are some articles you can read for further information:

“Sometimes the culmination of all our efforts and the answer to our prayers is that God restores us in relationships,” TerKeurst concluded her post. “And sometimes He rescues us out of relationships. I don’t understand why circumstances sometimes go the way my story is now going. But I’m standing firm in my faith and trusting God with every step. My family and I treasure your prayers and your compassion.”
