Gautam Singhania’s Separation From His Wife

On Monday, Gautam Singhania, the affluent Chairman of Raymond Group, and his spouse Nawaz Modi Singhania, declared their divorce. This occurred just a few hours after it was allegedly captured on camera that Nawaz was upset that she couldn’t attend her husband’s Diwali party on Sunday, November 12.

The purported video, which was taken outside the Thane party venue, features Nawaz Singhania together with another woman. The woman says that despite having an invitation to the event, the security guards stopped her. The footage shows Nawaz complaining that she had to wait in her car outside the event for over three hours. The Diwali party was hosted at Gautam Singhania’s Thane mansion, JK Gram.

On Monday, Gautam Singhania said on X that he and Nawaz were no longer together. He stated, “This Diwali is not going to be the same as many in the past. It is my belief that Nawaz and I will pursue different paths from here on. 32 years of being together as a couple, growing as parents and always being a strength of each other… we traversed with commitment, resolve, and faith as along came the two most beautiful additions in our lives.”

“As I reflect over the unfortunate developments in the recent past, there has been a lot of unsubstantiated rumour mongering, and gossip surrounding our lives fanned by ‘not so well-wishers’,” he stated. “I am parting ways with her while we continue to do what is best for our two precious diamonds Niharika and Nisa.” He longed for privacy and consideration for his preferences.

Raymond Gautam Singhania Wife Alleges Assault

Another Raymond board member, Nawaz Modi Singhania, said that in September 2023, Singhania violently abused her and her daughter. Her husband, she claimed, “beat up, smashed, and kicked” her. Additionally, she said that Raymond Group MD Gautam Singhania “punched” his young daughter Niharika for almost fifteen minutes.

According to CNBC TV 18, Singhania wrote a letter to the company’s board of directors ensuring that business will continue as usual despite his protracted divorce from his wife.

Tuesday saw Raymond’s shares decline for the tenth consecutive trading day; since November 10, they have lost more than 16%. On November 13, Singhania posted a separation announcement from his wife on the social media platform X, which sparked a decline in the share price.

The independent directors of textile manufacturer Raymond Ltd. were encouraged on Tuesday by proxy advisory firm Institutional Investor Advisory Services (IIAS) to look into the claims of abuse made against managing director Gautam Singhania by his divorced wife.

Raymond’s share price on the BSE ended the day 4.3% down at Rs 1,578.75. In an open letter, IiAS stated that in order to address investor and stakeholder concerns, the independent directors must articulate a course of action they have taken following these public allegations and engage with them.
