Railway Confirms: Saffron Color Chosen for the Upcoming Vande Bharat Express

Date:

The Railway Ministry has confirmed that the new Vande Bharat Express, India’s indigenously developed semi-high-speed train, will be saffron in color instead of white and blue. The Indian tricolor inspired the new color scheme, said Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

A Trial Change for the 28th Rake

The new saffron Vande Bharat Express is not yet operational and is stationed at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, where the train is being manufactured. The minister visited the ICF on Saturday and reviewed the train’s progress. He said that the color of the 28th rake of the Vande Bharat Express is being changed on a trial basis.

He also said that 25 improvements had been made in the new trains based on the feedback received from the field units regarding ACs, toilets, and other features. He said the new trains are designed in India by Indian engineers and technicians under the Make in India initiative.

Ministry of Railways shared a post on Twitter:-

A Semi-High-Speed Train With Advanced Features

The Vande Bharat Express is a semi-high-speed train that can run at a maximum speed of 160 mph. It has several advanced features such as fully suspended traction motors, automatic doors, bio-vacuum toilets, a GPS-based passenger information system, CCTV cameras, a fire and smoke detection system, modular luggage racks, and anti-climbing devices.

The train also has KAVACH technology, an intelligent anti-collision system that detects any obstacle on the track and automatically applies emergency brakes. The train also has a regenerative braking system that can save up to 30 percent of energy.
