Punjab Cop Ashish Kapoor Booked for Assaulting Woman in Police Custody!!

Date:

Suspended Punjab Police Service (PPS) officer Ashish Kapoor, along with Motia Group director Hemraj Mittal and Lovelish Garg, has been booked for assaulting a woman inmate during her police remand in a cheating case.

The incident, which occurred in March, came to light from Zirakpur. The complainant has alleged criminal conspiracy and illegal torture against the accused.

Allegations and Charges on Punjab Cop Ashish Kapoor

The woman inmate, along with her family members, filed a complaint against Ashish Kapoor, his wife, assistant sub-inspector Harinder Singh, deputy superintendent of police Samarpal Singh, DSP Pawan Kumar, then SHO of Zirakpur police station, DSP Tarlochan Singh, Hem Raj, and others.

They have been charged under Sections 327, 323, 294, 506, and 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The complainant accused the accused of orchestrating their torture, recording their ordeal, and threatening to implicate her in a false case.

The complainant provided evidence in the form of a video that surfaced on social media, showing Ashish Kapoor assaulting her at Zirakpur police station:

She claimed that Kapoor and DSP Samarpal misused their powers to extract a confession regarding a property dispute. The complainant and her family members were victims of illegal custodial torture, as depicted in the video.

The complainant implicated DSP Pawan Kumar, DSP Tarlochan Singh, and DSP Samarpal in the incident, stating they were present during the illegal torture.

Kapoor’s wife allegedly participated in the assault at the police station and video-called the complainant’s husband to provoke the officers to increase the severity of the abuse.

The police have registered a case against Ashish Kapoor and others involved:

If the investigation reveals the involvement of additional individuals, including the three DSPs, they will also be nominated in the case.
