Vashi BEST bus collides with police van on its way to Mumbai at Aranja Chowk

The driver of a BEST bus lost control of his vehicle and collided with a police van in the Vashi neighborhood of Navi Mumbai. Both the police van and bus driver suffered injuries in the head-on accident. The two were just slightly hurt, but the full extent of the damage has not yet been determined.

On a Friday morning around 8:30, an accident occurred near Vashi’s Arena Chowk. Images depicting the front ends of the two automobiles colliding have been widely shared online.

The law enforcement officers in the vehicle were heading to the Maharashtra Monsoon Legislature Session in Mumbai. Another vehicle ignored a red light and sped away after turning right against traffic.

The driver for the security team made some attempts to keep people safe. The driver, however, lost consciousness and control of the vehicle.

Lokmat cited Vimal Bidve, senior police inspector of the APMC Traffic Branch, as saying the collision scene had been cleared and traffic had resumed as usual.
