Why Were Changes Made to Akshay Kumar’s Character in OMG 2???

Date:

Filmmaker’s Discontent with Censorship Alterations: Vivek Agnihotri, a filmmaker, and member of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), has expressed his dissatisfaction over the 27 cuts and changes made to Akshay Kumar’s character in the upcoming film OMG 2.

Agnihotri voices his concerns about the need for censorship and the altering of creative choices in films. Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has expressed his disapproval of the changes made to Akshay Kumar’s character in the film.

Akshay’s character in the upcoming film OMG 2 was initially portrayed as Lord Shiva but later it was modified to that of a messenger of the Hindu God. Vivek Agnihotri argues that these changes are unwarranted and believes that CBFC should not have the power to dictate such creative decisions.

CBFC’s Role and Vulnerability

In an interview with India.com, Vivek Agnihotri questions the role of CBFC and its susceptibility to external pressures.

He believes that the recent alterations in films are a result of societal and religious pressures, reflecting a vulnerability within the CBFC to succumb to these pressures:

Vivek Agnihotri advocates for a more open approach to filmmaking and expression. He suggests that CBFC should not exist, emphasizing his belief in absolute free speech.

Agnihotri argues that even hate speech, if not intended to harm, should be allowed, emphasizing the importance of filmmakers’ intentions in their creations.

“OMG 2” faced significant hurdles during the certification process, following controversies surrounding the mythological film “Adipurush.” The film underwent extensive scrutiny at CBFC, leading to its eventual classification as an ‘A‘ certificate with 27 cuts.

These alterations were reportedly influenced by objections raised against the earlier release of “Adipurush.Latest upcoming movies:

Changes to Akshay character OMG 2

Directed by Amit Rai, “OMG 2” features Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam, and Akshay Kumar in pivotal roles. A sequel to the 2012 film “OMG,” where Akshay portrayed Lord Krishna, this installment presents a story revolving around a businessman’s legal battle with God.

Yami Gautam plays a lawyer, and Pankaj Tripathi portrays a Shiva devotee fighting for his son. Akshay Kumar takes on the role of a messenger of Lord Shiva.

Pankaj Tripathi is upset that his upcoming film, OMG 2, received an A rating from the Censor Board. The actor who plays the film’s main character was taken aback by the low score:

The alterations made to Akshay Kumar’s character in “OMG 2” serve as a catalyst for discussions about artistic autonomy and the larger implications of censorship in the film industry.
