The opening day of the Chhattisgarh assembly session coincided with a “nude” protest by young men who came to the streets naked to draw attention to the problem of fraudulent caste certificates being used to gain entry into government positions in the state.
The demonstration is the first of its kind in the state. However, the need to address fraudulent caste certificates is not novel. The protesting adolescents were clad just in their banners as they marched through the streets. The signs called for legal action against anyone who used false caste documents to acquire employment.
