Chhattisgarh: Men Protest Nude In Raipur, Demand Action Against Employees With Fake Caste Certificates
The opening day of the Chhattisgarh assembly session coincided with a “nude” protest by young men who came to the streets naked to draw attention to the problem of fraudulent caste certificates being used to gain entry into government positions in the state.
The demonstration is the first of its kind in the state. However, the need to address fraudulent caste certificates is not novel. The protesting adolescents were clad just in their banners as they marched through the streets. The signs called for legal action against anyone who used false caste documents to acquire employment.
Youth Rally Against Passing VVIP Cars
Young people protesting in the street without clothing often sprinted away once they saw a vehicle carrying a very important person.
As the VVIP automobiles attempted to make their way to the assembly, the young people could be seen jogging alongside them with placards.

The use of forged caste documents to gain employment in the Chhattisgarh government has been a topic of discussion for some time. A PWD executive engineer was dismissed in 2021 after he presented a forged Scheduled Tribe (ST) caste certificate to gain employment.

Many incidents of people using fraudulent caste certificates to get government employment have come to light, and those denouncing this practice say the department has done little to stop it.
Protesters claimed that employees who lied on their applications were given preferential treatment and other benefits because of their caste. However, the state commission is unwilling to discipline these workers.
