In response to the rise in hoax bomb threats disrupting schools, the Delhi Police conducted a training seminar on Monday for teachers and school staff to equip them with the skills to manage such crises effectively.
The session, organized in collaboration with the Delhi Education Department, aimed to enhance preparedness and coordination between schools and law enforcement.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam explained, “This seminar focused on staying calm, reacting appropriately, and working with police during bomb threats in schools.” The training also included sessions on cybercrime awareness and other safety issues.
The initiative comes after multiple schools in Delhi received hoax bomb threats over the past 10 days, causing panic, disrupting classes, and necessitating extensive search operations by multiple agencies.
As part of the program, approximately 247 teachers from both government and private schools in the Trans Yamuna area attended the session. Topics covered included bomb threat response protocols, cyber hygiene (CyGene), and strategies for preventing drug abuse among students.
The training seminar is an extension of the Delhi Lieutenant Governor’s “Samvaad” program, which seeks to address and raise awareness about critical safety and social issues.
Senior officers, including DCP Crime Branch Sanjay Sain, were among the speakers, offering insights and practical advice on handling emergencies.
This proactive initiative aims to empower educators to manage emergencies confidently, ensuring the safety of students and minimizing disruption.
The Delhi Police emphasized the importance of collaboration between schools and authorities to address modern challenges such as hoax threats and cybercrimes effectively.
