Murder And  Investigation

On December 11, 2023, at around 2:00 pm, in Jalna’s Mantha Square, Gajanan Taur was shot and killed by three persons who have not been identified. The attackers, who arrived on a motorcycle, stopped him as he was heading to the court for a hearing in one of his cases. They shot him four times at close range, striking his abdomen and chest. He passed away en route to the hospital after collapsing there.

A CCTV camera mounted at a nearby store recorded the event. According to the video, Gajanan attempted to defend himself by stabbing one of his assailants with a knife before collapsing. After that, the assailants left the scene, taking their motorcycle and their injured companion with them. When the police arrived, they took the motorcycle—which had a fictitious license plate—and confiscated it. Four cartridges and a handgun manufactured in the nation were also found at the scene.

Raju Patil, the son of Taur’s uncle Rameshwar Taur and a relative of the injured attacker, was recognized. After being taken to the hospital quickly, he passed away from his wounds. He was stabbed in the stomach and had a bullet wound in his chest.

Before he died, the authorities questioned him and discovered that he had plotted to kill Taur along with his two companions over a land dispute. After pursuing him for several days, they selected the location where they could carry out their strategy.

The two fugitive suspects became the target of a manhunt by the police, who also filed a murder charge against the three attackers. They also gave Gajanan Taur’s family security since they were afraid of his siblings and supporters taking revenge. The police claimed they were looking into the matter from every angle and would apprehend the offenders shortly.
