Kerala Governor’s statement on UCC “First Left then BJP supported UCC.”

Date:

Since Indian PM Narendra Modi brought up the Uniform Civil Code, the political climate in India has been highly charged, and the opposition has begun to emerge, seemingly out of nowhere.

On Monday, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan said that the “great” Left was also among the parties in India that had the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in their election program. He responded to claims that the BJP was the only party to do so.

He believed in the mission of UCC. On Monday, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan declared that the Left was among the major parties in India that have the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in their electoral manifestos, joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Whom the UCC considered a “great supporter.”

He maintained that he is “not defending any political party” but added that no one should doubt the motives of a group “taking a consistent stand” on the issue. “I think the question should be asked to those who were great supporters of UCC at least till 1999,” he said to the media.

Now that some have come around, it’s time to win them. He then emphasized that the situation should not be reversed. While the Governor has spoken out in favor of the UCC, the CPI(M)-led Kerala government is opposed to it because it is “discriminatory against Muslims” in an interview with the media. He continued, “At least till 1990,” the Left parties, including the former Kerala CM EMS Namboodiripad, were betting on the UCC.

Arif Mohammad Khan’s viewpoints are widely seen as more radical than more conventional Muslim groups. In the Shah Bano case, he took a liberal stance and has long advocated for change within the Muslim community.

According to him, the UCC would ensure that no one would be subject to religious discrimination. He reemphasized that standardization or categorization of cultural variations cannot be the goal of legal regulation. He remarked, “The point of the law is to make justice consistent for everyone.”
Khan told News18 that he does not understand why Muslims who live in countries where personal Islamic law is forbidden are not subject to a fatwa. He mainly considered Western nations whose legal systems uphold civil rules unrelated to religion or belief.

If no personal law exists in America or Europe, why do so many people want to move there? Personal law does not prevent Muslims from living as Muslims in the United States, the United Kingdom, or Pakistan; however, India is the only country where this is not the case. Not possible to do. There,” he completed the sentence.

So many parties have also supported it, including BSP supremo Mayawati’s Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal. So the same Manjinder Singh Sirsa has targeted the common man by tweeting. On the one hand, AAP General Secretary Sandeep Pathak and Rajya Sabha members from Punjab supported UCC. On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann ji is speaking against it.
