She left the Congress at that point and joined the All-India Trinamool Congress in 2010.

Controversies Surrounding Mahua Moitra’s Life

Mahua Moitra filed a police charge on January 10, 2017, alleging that Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party member Babul Supriyo had insulted her modesty during a national discussion on television. Afterwards, the complaint was dismissed by the Calcutta High Court. Following his accusation of involvement in the Rose Valley company fraud, Babul Pupriyo addressed legal letters to Tapas Paul and Saugata Roy for what he claimed to be defamatory remarks.

On August 3, Moitra is said to have attacked a female police officer at the Assam airport, leading to her imprisonment there. That evening, she was denied entry to her flight to Kolkata, but the following day, she departed with a case already filed against her. Zed Media filed a defamation lawsuit against Morita in January 2020, citing her slanderous remarks to the media. After obtaining bail, she appeared in court in Delhi.

Mahua Moitra described the goddess Kali as a meat-eating, alcohol-accepting deity on July 5, 2022, during the India Today Conclave East, because the deity was smoking a cigarette. The TMC party declared that it was opposing the controversy and maintained that Moitra had made up the allegations just for her benefit.

On August 20, 2022, she was again criticized by online people when a widely shared video appeared to show her hiding an expensive Louis Vuitton purse. This happened as a result of TMC member Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar bringing up the subject of price increases in the Lok Sabha. She did, however, tweet a collection of pictures in response to the video.
