Rohit Sharma Retirement Age
After the 2023 World Cup, Rohit Sharma, the captain of Team India, plans to retire. Rohit, who is 36 years old, is rumoured to be quitting one or two formats to extend his career. In 2020 he revealed that he will retire soon as family is more important than Cricket.

Rohit Sharma is anticipated to retire between the ages of 38 and 39. While all is going on, the Indian cricket board is getting ready, with KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya ready to take command.
Dinesh Lad offered insights into Rohit Sharma’s prospects in World Cup cricket in an exclusive interview. Lad acknowledged the age aspect, pointing out that Rohit, at 36, might be thinking this is the last World Cup he will ever win.
“Chances look as if this could be his last World Cup,” Lad said. Even though Rohit hasn’t made a formal retirement declaration, Lad highlighted his intense desire to help India win the World Cup, particularly after failing to do so in 2011.
Lad praised Rohit Sharma’s outstanding performance in the competition, highlighting the captain’s batting prowess. With a strike average of 121.50 and 503 runs in nine innings, Rohit has been an extremely effective player. Lad emphasized the captain’s upbeat and team-focused demeanour by expressing his sincere wish to see Rohit hoist the coveted title.
Test Captaincy Of India
The BCCI isn’t quite convinced that KL Rahul leading the Tests going forward. Together with Rishabh Pant, he is the greatest choice, nonetheless. However, KL Rahul appears destined to assume the role of Test captain as Rishabh Pant is expected to be sidelined for an extended period.
As previously reported by InsideSport, the BCCI will meet with Rahul Dravid, Rohit Sharma, and the selection committee to discuss Rohit’s post-World Cup plans. Given his age of 36 and his injury history, Rohit is unlikely to play after the World Cup. It is anticipated that he will declare his retirement immediately after the World Cup.
“Of course, there is always a succession plan. But it’s not the time to talk about future captaincy. Rohit is our captain and anything after that will be discussed after the World Cup. Rohit may take a call on his future after the World Cup. Hardik has been given the vice-captaincy of ODIs with the idea that he can take charge in future,” a senior BCCI official said.
Jasprit Bumrah was the other contender to succeed Rohit in the Test. But here we are at another fork in the road. Bumrah hasn’t gained any favour with his latest injury layoff. He is an all-format player other than that, the selectors don’t want to overwork him.
“KL Rahul is the vice-captain in Tests and by that, you can understand the succession plan. Pujara and Rishabh are both there. So, there is no dearth of options in vice-captaincy. But we will cross the bridge when we get there,” the BCCI official said.

No Rohit Sharma In T20s
Rohit Sharma has currently played his final T20 match for India in the T20 World Cup. Along with other veteran players like Virat Kohli, the selectors do not envision Rohit playing in the T20 format.
Even though the BCCI hasn’t formally announced a change in T20 captaincy, everyone in the BCCI, including broadcasters, already knows who would captain India in the shortest format. After a run of subpar performances, the selection committee has already delivered a message, elevating Hardik to the position of vice-captain and benching KL Rahul.
Consequently, cricket fans continue to conjecture and debate about the subject of Rohit Sharma retirement age. An era in Indian cricket will end with his eventual retirement, but his legacy will endure. Visit Digi Hind News, our page, for more information of this kind.
