ESE Mains 2026 Exam Date and Timings
According to the official schedule, the UPSC ESE Mains 2026 exam will be conducted on June 21, 2026.
The examination will be held in two shifts:
- Morning Shift: 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
- Afternoon Shift: 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM

Exam Pattern and Total Marks
The Engineering Services (Main/Stage-II) Examination will consist of two conventional-type papers based on the candidate’s engineering discipline.
- Each paper will be of 3 hours duration
- Each paper will carry 300 marks
- Total marks: 600 marks
Selection Process After Mains
Candidates who qualify in Stage-I (Prelims) and Stage-II (Mains), as per the cut-off decided by UPSC, will be called for the final stage.
The final stage is Stage-III, also known as the Personality Test (Interview).
