American first-degree takedown grappler Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Gordon Ryan, who was born on July 8, 1995, is thought to be the best fighter of all time who has never worn a GI. Ryan has won five ADCC World titles, two IBJJF No-Gi World titles, and four Eddie Bravo Invitational titles, among other things.

Ryan said that it all started when he got strep throat when he got back from Dubai. Because of the infection, the person got strep throat and had to go to the hospital. Unfortunately, the problems didn’t end there.

There were more illnesses and a string of drug treatments that didn’t work. Ryan said, “So all in, I was on over 40 days of antibiotics straight, plus a shot of penicillin.” He had to stay away from practice and his friends for a while because he was sick, and it could spread.

Gordon Ryan shared an Instagram photo or video. In it, he wrote,  “Hi everyone- quick update for everyone who has been asking. I’m not sure when I’ll be competing again.”:-

Along with the infections, Ryan’s well-known stomach ulcers worsened, causing him more pain and the longest time he had ever spent not working. Ryan said that he got ulcers because of a staph infection and the side effects of antibiotics.

He said this on an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience in September of last year. Ryan went into more detail about the diagnosis:

“It turned out to be a substantial fungal growth in my small intestine, accompanied by a significant bacterial imbalance in my stomach.”

Gordon Ryan was the best in the world at Brazilian jiu-jitsu, but he had to go to the hospital after a series of problems that needed surgery. The difficulties Gordon Ryan had because of his severe strep throat worsened his stomach problems.

His problems were caused by a fungal growth in his small intestine. He said it felt like “the worst hangover you’ve ever had.” Unfortunately, these stomach problems came back while he was getting treatment for his throat.

This made it very hard for him to even train, let alone compete. Ryan’s last fight was in December at the UFC Fight Pass Invitational in Las Vegas. He was supposed to fight Nicky Rodriguez, but they had to change plans at the last minute.

Ryan’s health problems have kept him out of action, and they also caused him to miss a fight with Felipe Pena in February.

Adding insult to injury, Ryan’s health problems came up right after he signed a multi-fight contract worth millions to participate in the prestigious FloGrappling Who’s Number One Series.

Ryan hasn’t been able to be a part of the show because of his health problems, and it looks like he’ll be out of action for good. Ryan could not train because he was sick, and other players were at training camps.
