Afghanistan’s World Cup win is historic
First, 18-year-old leg spinner Noor Ahmed bowled an efficient 3-49 in his first World Cup. He fired Babar Azam and striker Mohammad Rizwan. Afghanistan handily beat Pakistan’s 282 runs. 21-year-old opener Ibrahim Zadran hit 87 runs and Rahmanullah Gurbaz 65 to add 130 runs for the first wicket. With this solid combination, the team won easily by eight wickets.

Kabul celebrates Afghanistan’s historic win. Women are sharing celebratory videos on social media with the caption “We can’t dance, video for you!” Taliban also responded to this World Cup win. Taliban member Khalid Zadran tweeted, “Our cricket team won a historic match. Many said it was impossible, yet we won. Our win sends a message to some “We’re ahead of the competition. Look at us but don’t worry.”
